Open Research Europe platform accepted for indexation in Scopus

Written by

The Open Research Europe (ORE) platform, operated by the European Commission, has been accepted for indexing in the Scopus database, even in its early stages. ORE is an innovative open-access platform with post-publication peer review, dedicated to research and projects funded under the Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe programs. The platform's goal is to provide researchers with a high-quality and intuitive space for free and transparent publication of their work in line with the European Commission's open science policy. The platform is guided by an international scientific advisory board and was awarded the DOAJ Seal of Approval in 2021 as one of the best practices in open-access publishing. Currently, all the platform's content is indexed in Google Scholar and synchronized with the Zenodo repository to include reviewed papers. It will soon be sent to Inspec as well. Acceptance for indexing in Scopus marks a step towards the even more successful functioning of the Open Research Europe platform.

Scopus is a bibliographic and citation database that indexes peer-reviewed sources such as journals, conference proceedings, books, reports, and more. It contains over 70 million records, including scientific papers, conference papers, book chapters, lecture notes, and books. For inclusion in Scopus, publications need to meet specific criteria, including proven academic contributions to the scientific/technical field and content quality.

Given the transparency and novelty of the platform, this marks a significant milestone and further confirmation of the shortcomings of current publishing models, as well as recognition of the quality of the research published on the platform so far. Over the coming months, all articles that have undergone peer review on ORE will be included in Scopus, and users will be able to see the platform's profile on Scopus within a month. The inclusion of ORE in Scopus will significantly increase the reach and visibility of works published on the platform.
