The goal of EOSC is to build a network of data and connected services based on the FAIR principles, which involves simplifying access to content and services through a common authentication and authorization infrastructure (AAI), promoting access to research data (following FAIR principles), enabling access to storage systems, cloud-based analysis services, and computing resources, developing and promoting standards for interoperability, and establishing support and education systems.
RBI is an active member of the Croatian Open Science Cloud Initiative (HR-OOZ) and, together with the University Computing Centre, is building an information system about Croatian scientific activity called CroRIS at the national level, providing support to the system and its users. As part of CroRIS, a module for equipment and services has been developed, gathering information about Croatian networked scientific services, thus aiding the alignment process with the requirements of the EOSC catalog.
An example of a successful domestic network service included in the EOSC catalog is the scientific service for summarizing and visualizing gene ontology - REVIGO. This service allows users to input a list of gene ontologies through a web browser, and then refine, summarize, group, and display them using various visualization methods.
The service arose out of research by RBI scientists and is now a globally popular online service with over 4800 citations.
